Regional Award Win

In July of 2015, Dayton History was happily awarded the Association of Midwest Museums’ Best Practices Award. The Association was mostly impressed with how the addition of Carillon Brewing Company provided guests with a sensory, educational experience.
As a museum, this is a huge honor. Being recognized by museum professionals for the hard work, attention to detail, and researched programming means we have done something right. For decades museums, especially history museums, have struggled to get visitors to attend, be excited, feel connected, and return for repeat visits. In this past year we have seen and heard over 100,000 visitors comment on the Brewery’s uniqueness.
As a brewery, this award is incredibly significant. We opened Carillon Brewing Company in the hopes to re-invigorate the community to history and Carillon Historical Park. We wanted to allow a place where thirsty Daytonians and travelers could easily ponder how beer got to where it is today. This award helps us support that mission and, hopefully, helps drinkers realize it is more that a pint of beer–it is “History by the Pint.”
